Smart Living Plattform Optimise

Projektlogo Türkis-Weiß

Smart Living is characterised by different smart products (sensors and actuators) that are used to quantify and control energy, comfort and safety-relevant interests in apartments and buildings. However, up to now there have only been pricey, isolated solutions with which users can only operate in proprietary eco-systems. What's more, the inherent potential benefits of smart products through complementary digital services have as yet been insufficiently tapped. Data privacy concerns aggravate cost-induced acceptance problems and prevent any large-scale distribution.

The OPTIMISE (open platform for innovative smart living services) project of the Institut für Angewandte Informatik e.V. (InfAI) will expedite the planning, development and demonstration of an open, smart living platform. This platform uses IoT, big data and AI technologies to allow the non-proprietary connection of smart living devices, the historical and real-time analysis of sensor data, the smart control of actuators as well as the offer of developed services on a digital market place. Using these functions, companies can develop and offer individual services with an added value for customers (e.g. energy management, comfort and safety) faster and at a lower cost.

The OPTIMISE platform will be provided as a demonstrator in both the living lab of the InfAI as well as in a real test apartment. This should illustrate the platform's possible uses and potential benefits and create a common understanding of smart living between users and companies. Furthermore, it should help identify users' needs and trigger networks of interests and partnerships. In this context, regional potentials for relevant products, companies and projects in the field of smart living will be identified and analysed on the basis of a market survey.
