Innovative transportation concepts

Mobility for rural areas

Mobility is a decisive factor for the appeal of rural areas as places to live and work. The "Innovative transportation concepts" project provides a platform for scientists, practitioners and municipal representatives to develop specific ideas on how to make the existing transport facilities more user-friendly and economical and at the same time reduce emissions. The region north of Chemnitz has a model function in this respect.

An initial thematic priority is already emerging: the accessibility of industrial estates in rural areas to transport links. Many of these industrial estates have very poor public transport links. The consequence is often a dearth of parking spaces or poor accessibility for trainees and apprentices. The parties to the project are working together to try and identify which innovative mobility offers could be of assistance here.

With the help of a digital participation platform, a concept for more sustainable transport solutions is being developed together with citizens as well as local companies and communities and innovative ideas are being collected for rural mobility offers.

Interested parties can hereby submit concrete suggestions and wishes by email or via a web form on the  project website. The ideas that are collected will then be discussed in workshops with citizens.

The final results will be presented in autumn 2021. Specific recommendations for action in the region are expected and solutions will be presented that can be transferred to other regions in Saxony.

The project team under the leadership of the Energy Agency for Saxony will be pleased to answer any questions you may have.
