ShiQ-Shuttle im Quartier

Mobility is a crucial factor for the appeal of rural homes. But elderly people in particular often have problems using the public transport that is on offer. A new mobility service for the “last mile” is now undergoing trials in the quarters of the Wohnungsgenossenschaft “Glück Auf” Ehrenfriedersdorf eG:

an e-shuttle will pick up and return residents directly to the front door if necessary. With stop times and assistance services provided by the shuttle’s driver that depend on the user, the shuttle can cater for the specific needs of individual passengers. The e-shuttle regularly calls at doctors’ surgeries, shops, the local council or the parish offices. With the help of the local contact person, “special trips” can also be organised in the surrounding area.

The project managers combine new technical solutions with a social management of the quarter. The goal is to realise a sustainable mobility offer for people in the quarter and thus contribute to increasing the appeal of the residential location.

The project is being implemented jointly by FI Freiberg Institut für vernetzte Energieautarkie GmbH, Wohnungsgenossenschaft “Glück auf” Ehrenfriedersdorf eG, the Federation of Saxon Housing Associations, ioki GmbH and BSMRG GmbH (carlundcarla.de).

The project is being supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy until August 2023.
