EDIH Saxony
From October 2022 to September 2025, the European Digital Innovation Hub Saxony (EDIH Saxony) supported small and medium-sized enterprises, startups, and public administrations in their digital transformation. In addition to the simul⁺InnovationHub of the Saxon State Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the EDIH Saxony consortium included the Smart Systems Hub, the Smart Infrastructure Hub, and, as coordinator, the Institute for Applied Informatics (InfAI). As part of the European Commission’s «Digital Europe” program, the consortium strengthened Saxony’s innovative capacity through four key service areas:
- Test-before-Invest: Companies tested the potential of new technologies in various testbeds—with structured support and without investment risk.
- Access to Financing and Capital: Tailored workshops and webinars helped identify funding programs and investors.
- Skills Development: Training sessions, hackathons, and pilot projects built digital competencies and entrepreneurial know-how.
- Networking: Roadshows, events, and the development of the «Smart Regions Saxony” portal fostered cross-sector and cross-regional exchange.
Within EDIH Saxony, the simul⁺InnovationHub facilitated networking between companies, administration, and scientific institutions. This involved, for example, bringing together end-users and providers of technological solutions on the path toward a «smart city” or «smart region.”
Since October 2025, EDIH Saxony has continued its work with a new consortium structure. Further information is available at EDIH Saxony | European Digital Innovation Hub Saxony
